Program Update
To-date,
the San Diego Retrocommissioning (RCx) Program has
received applications for buildings totaling nearly 32
million square feet of space. A variety of
buildings are in the Program - hotels, office buildings,
hospitals, data centers and even a museum. Because
of the Program's accomplishments from 2006-2008,
San Diego Gas & Electric®
(SDG&E®) has extended the
program through 2009 and we are still accepting
applications. The properties that are
committed to the Program for 2009 are expected
to save over 9.6 million kWh and 43,000
therms! Apply

RCx and Energy Use Reporting
Requirement for 2010
Do you know that starting in
2010 all nonresidential buildings in California will be
required to disclose energy use information to potential
buyers, lessees, and lenders? Do you also know that
the San Diego RCx Program can help you comply?
Assembly Bill 1103 was
originally passed in 2007 and dictates that starting
January 1, 2009 the California utilities must maintain
energy consumption records for all nonresidential
buildings they serve. The Bill recommends the
United States Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY
STAR® Portfolio Manager as the
preferred platform for the data. As of January '09,
utilities are expected to provide a building's energy
use data, upon owner request, in a format compatible to
upload to the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager. The
second phase of this Bill will go into effect on January
1, 2010 and indicates that the most recent 12 months of
building energy use data must be provided to a potential
buyer, lessee, or lender.
The intention of this Bill is to allow building
owners and operators to compare their benchmark data and
rating with similar buildings, to better manage the
energy costs of a building, and to provide motivation
for owners to invest in energy improvements to bolster
their portfolio.
The San Diego RCx Program can
help you meet this requirement! As a part of the program
process we provide ENERGY
STAR benchmarking for qualifying buildings. Apply
