Welcome to the first quarterly newsletter of the San Diego Retrocommissioning Program!  The Program is now offering financial incentives and technical assistance to help San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E®) customers save energy and money through retrocommissioning (RCx).

RCx can help building owners and managers improve the performance of a building's systems, achieve energy savings, and improve occupant comfort.  Through low-cost, quick payback operational improvements, an RCx project can reduce total building energy costs by 5-20%.  Visit www.sandiegorcx.com to learn more about the Program's incentives and process.

RCx Provider Update
RCx Provider

The Program has qualified 101 RCx providers at 39 different firms to provide RCx services to participating customers.  The qualifying providers were selected for their expertise in identifying O&M-type energy savings opportunities and previous experience leading RCx projects.  All qualified providers have also participated in orientation for the RCx programs.  Participating customers choose an RCx provider.  The RCx Provider then conducts the in-depth investigation to identify energy-saving measures, works with the building owner and staff to select measures for implementation, and provides follow-up documentation and training.

The Program has recently updated the information available on the Providers.  Visit the RCx Provider page on the program website to learn more: San Diego RCx Qualified Providers

San Diego RCx Program Partners with ENERGY STAR®  Change for the better with ES - vertical

The San Diego RCx Program has teamed up with ENERGY STAR to provide pre- and post-project EPA Energy Performance Ratings for all participating buildings that are eligible for the rating.  The initial rating serves as an indicator of how the building is currently performing, while the post-project rating shows how RCx measures impact energy performance over time.  At the conclusion of the project, the Program will help building owners set up their own accounts to continue to track their facilities' energy performance.

ENERGY STAR is a government-backed program helping businesses and individuals protect the environment through superior energy efficiency.  For more information or to join, visit the website at www.energystar.gov.
San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina Recognized at SANDEE Awards

Congratulations to the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina!  The Marriot Hotel & Marina, a participant in the 2004-2005 San Diego RCx program, was named a Runner Up for the "Special Achievement by a Medium/Large Business" award at the San Diego Excellence in Energy (SANDEE) awards ceremony on February 22nd.  The facility implemented energy-saving measures that resulted in an 8.5% reduction in energy costs through the RCx program.  In addition to the financial benefits, the RCx project gave Marriott staff an opportunity to go above and beyond their everyday duties to participate in the RCx work and learn more about the operation of the facility.
